Feathers, Fur, Scales and Tales is a non-profit organization dedicated to the proper care and advocacy of captive exotic animals. Though we have many goals and objectives, such as rescuing and finding homes for exotic animals, our most important mission is to educate the public about all aspects of exotic animal care as these animals continue to flood the pet trade in ever increasing numbers.
Quasimodo was a 20 year old iguana that traveled with us to events and to speak to schools and other private functions. He passed away of old age in the beginning of 2012. He helped educate many people about reptiles and will truly be missed.
Feathers, Fur, Scales and Tales is an LLC, however in the process of obtaining 501(c)4 non-profit status. The difference betweeb 501(c)3 and 501(c)4 has to do with lobbying. 501(c)4 non-profit organizations are given more rights to lobby for their cause.
We take in and provide homes for exotic animals, such as birds, lizards, snakes, you name it... basically animals that you don't find at the humane society. The reason you don't see such animals at the humane society is that those organizations are not able to provide the extensive education that is required for these difficult animals, as there are so many dogs and cats that are looking for homes. For that reason we have decided to specialize in exotics exclusively.
However, rescue and relocation is not all we do! You may be surprised, so read on and see why the founder of this organization, who is against exotic animals being pets for a majority of the public, decided to save reptiles by breeding them!
